Oklahoma City's making some waves, when it comes to hosting competetive rowing and other events on the Oklahoma River.
Oklahoma City University Head Rowing Coach Mike Knopp told city council members about the upcoming International Canoe Federation's Canoe World Marathon Championships.
"This event has never been held in the United States, before. It was in Copenhagen, Denamrk last year. The year prior, it was in Rome, Italy."
Knopp said the Canoe World Marathon Championships are set for Sepetmber 26th through the 28th.
Knopp also said he recently attended a seminar in Dayton, Ohio. He said city leaders there are using the Oklahoma River and the Boathouse District as a model for their own river development projects.
