Legendary actress and vocalist Shirley Jones is in Oklahoma City, for Thursday's red carpet premiere of the digitally re-mastered movie version of "Oklahoma."
Jones said composers Rodgers and Hammerstein felt she was the best actress to play Laurie in the 1955 film classic.
"It was me at that age. Exactly me. A small town. But I was very right on. I'm an only child so I said what I thought, as she did. So, I think that's one of the reasons Rodgers and Hammerstein saw that in me," Jones told KTOK.
Thursday's premiere is being held at the Oklahoma City Community College's Visual and Performing Arts Center.
Jones said while she's originally from Pennsylvania, she has visited Oklahoma many times and our state fells like a second home to her.
