From Watermelon to Hot Air Balloons, Aug 10-12

There’s nothing like juicy, fresh watermelon on a hot day. You’ll get plenty of it, at the Rush Springs Watermelon festival, happening on Saturday! Other festivities include a seed-spitting contest, an arts and craft fair featuring over 100 vendors, carnival rides, live entertainment, stage shows, watermelon exhibits and more.

Today and tomorrow, Fire Lake Casino in Shawnee is going to be extra colorful, as Balloon-fest makes a return.  Come see more than 30 balloons, kites, a carnival and live music.  There’s also a 5K race starting at 7am tomorrow.

The AQHYA World Youth Championship Quarter Horse Show continues through Sunday at the State Fairgrounds. This is one of the top youth events in the country, with more than 1,200 horses from all 50 states and half a dozen countries competing in several equestrian events including cutting, reining, jumping and much more.

Riverwind Casino's Beats & Bites music and food truck festival is tomorrow (Saturday).

OKC Energy FC is in action at home at Taft Stadium on North May Avenue, across from Northwest Classen Highschool.
