Sanders, Cowboys Ready To Mess With Texas

You know the old saying that became a tag line for a Lone Star state anti-littering campaign..."Don't mess with Texas."

Well in the 150 year history of college football no team has messed with Texas more in Austin than the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Pokes haven't lost deep in the heart of Texas since George W. Bush was president, that's five straight wins in Austin. No other team has ever had that long a winning streak against the Longhorns.

"We just had good game plans," Cowboy running back Chuba Hubbard said as an explanation for the streak. "We are a tough team," and Hubbard, the nation's leading rusher, is among the toughest guys on the team. After carrying the ball 32 times for 256 yards last Saturday at Tulsa, Hubbard continued to workout half an hour after Tuesday's practice ended.

"I just try to work hard and pay attention to the little things and the details," Hubbard said. "Last year, I think I did a good job with it but there are some things that I missed. This year, I am making sure that I don't miss anything and I leave everything on the table."

Of course neither Hubbard nor redshirt freshman quarterback Spencer Sanders played in any of those wins in Austin. The Cowboys hosted the 'Horns last season in Stillwater and won that matchup also, OSU's 7th win in their last 9 games against UT. This season both Hubbard and Sanders will have major roles on Saturday in trying to grab OSU's sixth straight win in Texas over the Longhorns.

"They are a creative team, I’ll give that to them," Sanders told reporters after Tuesday's practice. "They have a lot of mixed coverages and mixed blitzes. They do just about everything you’re going to see, but it doesn’t bother us. We are going to play like we know how to play. We’re going to execute and play hard," and hopefully mess with Texas once again.
