Brett Eldredge said a “rush” of emotions and memories “hit me at once” when he wrote one of his latest ballads.

The country singer-songwriter recently released Lonestar Lovers, a 5-track EP that serves as the first chapter of Eldredge’s next era of music. Eldredge shared a clip of “Her Favorite Color” on Instagram on Tuesday evening (March 18). He wrote in his caption that “all these emotions hit me at once…it may have been of the craziest rush of memories I’ve ever felt and the song basically wrote itself in an instant.”

“Her Favorite Color” appears on Eldredge’s EP with the title track, “Forget About You,” and two songs that released prior to the EP’s debut on Friday (March 14). “Gorgeous” and “You’ll Be Mine” arrived earlier this year. Eldredge previously said those songs offer heartfelt reminders in a chapter of music “unlike anything i’ver ever done.”

“I’ve been thinkin of different ways to really shake things up with my life and Music,” he said when he teased new music earlier this year. “Every time I push myself wayyyy out of my comfort zone I feel the most alive…I have done this personally and now musically with what I am about to hit ya with this year…I feel loved and accepted more than ever and I feel empowered to put out music in unconventional ways that many may not expect but I know you are gonna love…there will be multiple different styles and sounds, taking you around the globe with me on a musical journey from beaches, to mountains to evening strolls under city street lights…this is going to be a lot of fun…here’s to the next chapter, coming verrrry sooooon.”
