Multiple Videos Capture SUV Plowing Through Crowd At Christmas Parade

Officials in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha report that more than 20 people were injured and “some” people were killed when an SUV plowed into a crowd during a holiday parade this afternoon.

The exact number of those killed has not been released pending notification of relatives. Officials say that eleven adults and 12 children were taken to hospitals. It is not known how many people were treated on the scene.

The Waukesha police chief, Daniel Thompson, said that a suspect is in custody. The shots that were heard at the scene were fired by a police officer at the suspect. No one was injured by the officer’s gunshots.

According to eyewitnesses the vehicle crossed police lines and ran into the large crowd that had assembled in downtown Waukesha. Video posted on social media shows the red SUV traveling at a high rate of speed along the parade route.

There have been unconfirmed reports that shots were also fired, most likely from police along the parade route. Authorities have not announced whether a suspect is in custody.

According to eyewitnesses the vehicle drove for several blocks, hitting dozens of people in its path. A mass casualty situation was declared and hospitals throughout the Milwaukee area have been receiving patients.

Waukesha is celebrating its 125th year with celebrations throughout the year. The parade is always one of the biggest events of the year in the city. The parade is the official kickoff to the holiday season in downtown Waukesha.

The City Of Waukehsa was livestreaming the parade and in the video below at approximately 20:42 in the video you'll see the red SUV fly past the Marching Band.

Another video posted to Twitter shows the vehicle coming within inches of a small child who was dancing along the parade route.

An additional video shows shots being fired as the vehicle crashes through parade barricades.
