Billy Ray Cyrus shared an update on his family’s “healing” amid rumored drama.

The “Achy Breaky Heart” star, 63, applauded daughter Miley Cyrus, 32, for “her guts and her courage” as he requested prayers for his family. He also shared a heartfelt tribute to his ex-wife, Tish Cyrus, 57, who “is the very definition of a strong mother. ...being married to me was not easy.”

“I too rarely comment on rumors,” Cyrus wrote after acknowledging his mother and grandmother on Mother’s Day on Sunday (May 11). “But on this given day… I give you my truth.

“I’m so proud of Miley and her guts and her courage… her wisdom and strength to bring it when our family needed it most,” he wrote, later adding that he would “humbly” accept prayers for his family. “We are so close to a full healing. We have all been through a lot.”

Miley shared a rare statement to address rumors that she’s feuding with her mother, and also commented on where she stands with her father. On her Instagram story on Saturday (May 10), the “Flowers” superstar said in a statement: “I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us. She's my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental, and uninteresting. …My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my 30s, [my] family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”

Cyrus continued in his own statement that “Tish Cyrus was and is the very definition of a strong mother. Trust me, I’m the first to admit… being married to me was not easy. I’m very good at making mistakes. a very imperfect man. But thank goodness…somewhere along the line my Mama also taught me ‘life is a series of adjustments.’ …I had to learn that lesson the hard way (since childhood). Funny how history repeats itself. Full Circle.”

Cyrus was married to Tish for nearly three decades. They divorced in 2022. They share Brandi Cyrus, 37, and Trace Cyrus, 35 — both of whom the country star adopted when he married their mother in 1993 — Braison Cyrus, 30, and daughters Miley and and Noah Cyrus, 25. Cyrus is also a father to son Christopher Cody Cyrus, 32, from a previous relationship. Tish said on an episode of Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson in late 2024 that she “never wanted to be divorced. …I wanted to make it work, probably for a little too long, like, for my own mental health. There became a point that, like, I didn’t have a choice.”

Tish has since remarried actor Dominic Purcell, 55. Cyrus married Australian singer-songwriter FIREROSE, 37, also known as Johanna Rose Hodges, in October 2023. He filed for divorce less than one year into the marriage, and said in a statement when it was finalized in August 2024 the short-lived marriage was “the most crazy insane scam,” and he’s “very relieved” it’s over. Now, Cyrus is dating actress Elizabeth Hurley, 59. The couple first sparked romance rumors when they shared a flirty Easter photo together, and have since shared additional Instagram posts amid their budding romance. Hurley was previously married to Arun Nayar, 60, from 2007 to 2011.
